HISTORY
Akani is still very young at the tender age of 21 and in 2013 he already competed at the World Champs in Moscow, age 20. Coming into the champs with a pb of 10.19 and a sb of 10.36. He finished 7th in the heat with a 10.38. At age 18 he ran a 10.57 and 21.27 in 2011. Then in 2012 already put himself into 2nd place in SA with a 10.19 behind Simon Magakwe and topping the SA junior rankings. In 2013 he improved on his 200m pb bringing it down to 20.90 at the SA Senior champs in Stellenbosch taking a bronze medal, which he also did in the 100m final. Now in 2014 the youngster has moved up once again breaking the SA 100m record behind Simon with a 10.02.
