The Pretoria based sprinter means business when he sets foot on the track, so before he sets foot in the Olympic squad, let’s get to know a bit more about the star:

What is Jon’s nickname? “Jonny (he says it with a laughing emoticon)”

Biggest sporting moment in your career? “My biggest sporting moment was taking second place at SA Seniors last year behind Wayde, running my PB”

Tell us something nobody knows about you? “I am addicted to ice-cream”

What School did you attend? “Pretoria Boys High School” (One of the best in the country)

What are the most important things in your life? “The most important things in my life are God, my family and loved ones)

Describe yourself in three words? “Social, driven, sport” (Seems like Jon is living a great socially balanced life, something all athletes should learn to do)

Why did you decide to do the 400m? “The 400m kind of chose me (smiles), I used to only run 100m and 200m and then I had a very hard pre-season in Grade 9 and I realised 400m was for me”

What are your last thoughts before you settle into the blocks? “There’s no turning back now…and then I clear my mind”

Favourite series, movie, music and food? “Favourite series: Futurama, Favourite movie: Forrest Gump, Music: Deep House and favourite food: Pizza @ col cacchio”

Lastly, your favourite and worst training sessions? “Favourite set: 3x 150m at full speed and worst: 2x 600m and 6x 300m”

The future looks promising for Seeliger and we wish him nothing but the best as he still tries to qualify for the Rio Olympic Games. Definitely a prospect to be watched with an owls-eye.
