The most interesting fact about this junior ladies race is the the number 1 to 5 positions at SA champs in the 1500m will all be in this race. Weitsz the defending Tembisa Streetmile champ will be the favorite heading into this race. But Liza Kellerman who clocked a 2:05 on the 800m this year will surely be a valid contender as she took silver in the 800m at SA Senior Champs. Cindy vo Ahleveldt is the SA u/20 800m champion, she and training partner Celia Stramrood, who has clocked a 2:08 on the 800m this year will also put up a decent fight. An athlete that should never be counted out is Cross country and road specialist Chery-Lee Schoeman who, with her fearless approach, will be gunning for the gold as well.

Having taken silver behind Weitsz in the CGA XC champs, Thobile Vilikazi should be out to prove a point whils AGN Cross country gold and silver duo and twins Thobile and Thulisile Amon will definitely make sure that this race does not turn into a CGA dominant event. With a fine combination of 800 and 1500m youngsters this will prove to be quite a spectacular race! Don’t miss it on 4 September in Randburg!
